70 years of Berlin Classics – all highlights in one catalogue
Berlin Classics has been combining the tradition of classical music with the innovation of contemporary musical trends for more than 70 years. Alongside Bach, Beethoven and Mozart and many other “classical composers”, the comprehensive catalog of the label offers the great names of composers of the 20th century from Schönberg to Eisler, from Dessau to Matthus.
Founded in 1947 as “Lied der Zeit” by Ernst Busch, a program with the most important sound bodies of the GDR was established under the label “Eterna”: Staatskapelle Dresden and Berlin, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester or the Dresden Philharmonic did not develop their own sound language Only in the concert halls, but also in the recording studio. Thus a unique, self-contained musical history and discography arose.
Since the 1990s, this legacy has been continued and expanded under the Berlin Classics label. The highlights can now be found in the new Berlin Classics catalog.
