ECHO Klassik 2017: Sebastian Knauer, Sebastian Manz and Dominik Wagner awarded
Good news for Berlin Classics: With Sebastian Knauer, Sebastian Manz and Dominik Wagner three of the label artists are honored with an ECHO Klassik. As announced by the Deutsche Phono Akademie on 27th Juliy 2017, the award will be prestend in the categories "Classical without borders", "Orchestral music 19. century" and "young artist – double bass" on 29th October 2017 at the Elbphilharmnie Hamburg. Presented by Thomas Gottschalk, ZDF will broadcasts the gala from 10 pm.
"ÜberBach" – Classical without borders
In collaboration with the Munich composer Arash Safaian pianist Sebastian Knauer published the album "ÜberBach" at Neue Meister. Whether choral, orchestral, or piano, the new compositions of Safaian, based on Bach's themes, combined with Knauer's virtuoso pianist, create a unique approach to music.
"Weber: Complete Works for Clarinet" - Orchestral music 19. century
Two concerts, one quartet -With his recording of the works Carl Maria von Webers, clarinetist Sebastian Manz succeeded in February 2017 a success. Together with the SWR Symphonieorchester under the direction of Antonio Mendez, the team left the usual paths and creates new, fresh interpretations of old masterpieces.
"Gassenhauer – Gassenbauer" - Young Artist - Double Bass
In September 2016, contrabassist Dominik Wagner, clarinetist Vera Karner and pianist Aurelia Vişovan presented "Gassenhauer - Gassenbauer". Enriched with works by Beethoven, Bottesini, Burch, Breinschmid and many more, the album captivates by tonal warmth, a nuanced clarity and a bass with "rhythmic bite and melodious fullness" (Spiegelonline, 18.09.16).
