ECHO Klassik – Berlin Classics gets 2 awards

On the 20th of July 2016 the Federal Music Industry Assocation announced the awards of the ECHO Klassik 2016.

This year, Berlin Classics is proud of getting two awards:
Christiane Karg wins the ECHO Klassik 2016 in the category Solo Recording (Voice, Arias/Recitals) for „Scene!".

Christiane Karg:

"I am really happy to get the award for my recording 'Scene!'. It means so much for me, because this album definitely is the most personal one. Starting with the selection of the repertoire and ending with the final artwork. The whole work with my dear colleagues Malcolm Martineau, Alina Pogostkina, Jonathan Cohen and the ensemble Arcangelo made this production very special."

With their album "Bach On Brass" the ensemble German Brass wins the ECHO Klassik 2016 in the category Ensemble/Orchestra.

Those who know German Brass will be aware that they do not limit themselves to classic brass music along the lines of the trumpet fanfare. This is an ensemble which blends great virtuosity and sparkling musicality with more than a dash of wit and charm. Their concerts are pure entertainment, spanning the genres from pop through classics and jazz to film music. The success of this approach can be judged by the four decades of the ensemble’s history. On its album “Bach on Brass”, then, the ensemble summons up a completely new sound that presents the works of the great Johann Sebastian in an entirely fresh and radiant light. This is the full brass treatment for Bach’s greatest works: unexpected, yet familiar, with absolute respect for the matchless composer.
