Musical Summer in East Friesland
Summer has officially begun - at least in East Friesland, where the 34th Musical Summer starts on Wednesday: six weeks of top international ensembles, award-winning young artists and celebrated world stars in the most beautiful venues and magical places in the region.
Berlin Classics is represented by three top-class artists. One of these artists is the trumpet virtuoso Matthias Höfs, who is in demand worldwide. Together with concert organist Christian Schmitt, he will present on 22 June a musical journey through countries and centuries with works from the Baroque by Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi, romantic music by Charles-Marie Widor and Petr Eben's four-movement work OKNA from 1976.
Cellist Isang Enders will also immerse himself in the Baroque era and present Johann Sebastian Bach's cello suites. The concert will take place on 7 July in the moated castle of Gödens.
On July 27, ARD award winner Sebastian Manz and his long-time duo partner Martin Klett will perform a selection of solo works by Stravinsky and Debussy, including works by Witold Lutoslawskis, John Ireland and Joseph Horovitz.
