New at Berlin Classics: Double Bassist Dominik Wagner meets Giovanni Bottesini
Echo-Klassik prize winner and performances at Vienna's Musikverein and Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie: double bassist Dominik Wagner made a special musical career in his younger years and dedicates his upcoming album, released via Berlin Classics, to the Italian composer Giovanni Bottesini. The romantic Bottesini - whose 200th anniversary we can celebrate this year - is regarded as the Paganini of the double bass, shaping and revolutionising the double bass oeuvre. For Dominik Wagner, his compositions were the reason to start playing the double bass. Today the young Austrian releases his debut single and interprets on it the 'III Finale. Allegro con fuoco' from Bottesini's Double Bass Concerto No. 1. The musician will be accompanied by the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn under Emmanuel Tjeknavorian.
'Bottesini: III. Finale. Allegro con fuoco' is available digitally for streaming & download.
