This year, Ragna Schirmer is to be awarded her second ECHO Klassik prize - her recording of all of Handel's suites on three CDs stormed up the German classical charts and was hailed as the most spectacular release of this anniversary year. This is an ideal opportunity, therefore, to look back on Schirmer's career to date: she has released nine albums with a wide-ranging repertoire, beginning with her CD debut in a Baroque music program.
Back then, in May 2000, the release caused a big stir when her interpretation of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations had the press in rapture. Consequently, it is time for a new version of that first release, which one might call the bedrock of Schirmer's discography, featuring a new design and at a more modest price.
