Bach s Partitas for solo violin represent music at its highest level of concentration in addition to being one of music's greatest challenges. With this CD, Midori Seiler takes her solo career to new heights by recording Bach's Partitas for solo violin at the Johann Sebastian Bach Saal in Köthen Castle.
Playing on her Guarneri violin, she develops a historically authentic and emotional interpretation of pure Bach. Seiler, the child of a Japanese mother and a Bavarian father, grew up in Salzburg. Her musical training took her, via Basel and London, to Berlin. Her teachers along the way were Helmut Zehetmair, Sandor Végh, Adelina Oprean, David Takeno, Eberhard Feltz, and Stephan Mai.
Since 2000, she has been leader of the Anima Eterna ensemble and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, two of the world's outstanding early music ensembles. In addition, she frequently performs both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
