The new single by Matthias Kirschnereit and the hr-Sinfonieorchester is here!
With their second single, pianist Matthias Kirschnereit and the hr-Sinfonieorchester under Michael Sanderling dive further into the Romantic era: After focusing on Felix Mendelssohn's 'Capriccio brillant' in their first release, they now follow up with Carl Maria von Weber's Concert Piece for Piano and Orchestra in f minor, op. 79. According to the pianist, this work is "in advance of its time, it is all of a piece and yet like a free fantasia." Connoisseurs of Weber's repertoire may also be reminded of the opera 'Der Freischütz'. This should be no suprise, since the completion of the concert piece on June 18, 1821 coincides with the day on which the opera was first performed.
'Weber: Concert Piece in f Minor' is now available for streaming and download.
