With ‘Das große Adventskonzert’ the new Christmas album of the Dresdner Kreuzchor is released
When, shortly before Christmas, more than 25,000 people flock to the stadium for the big Advent concert and hundreds of thousands of TV viewers take their seats in their living rooms, then for many Dresdeners the Christmas season really begins. What began in 2015 as part of the celebrations for the anniversary of the world-famous Dresden Kreuzchor has now become one of the largest and most beautiful Christmas events in Germany: flanked by stars from the international music world, one of the best boys' choirs in the world presents the most famous Christmas melodies in classical and modern arrangements. Just in time for Christmas 2020 the new studio album is finally available.
The creation of the album in the middle of Corona was anything but easy. Artistic production manager Peter Christian Feigel: 'Under strict hygienic conditions, the recordings had to be divided into small groups at different locations all over Germany, as is usually only usual for pop productions. From the different instrumental groups of the orchestra to the soloists and the individual vocal groups of the choir, this presented a completely new challenge, especially for the Crucians. Several months passed from the first note recorded at the piano in Berlin to the recording of the last sung note in the large rehearsal hall of the Kreuzchor, during which time and again new notes were filed, rehearsed, mixed, changed and refined'.
The album 'Das große Adventskonzert' by the Dresdner Kreuzchor will be released on November 27, 2020 by Berlin Classics on CD and digitally on all streaming and download platforms.
